How to Remove Moles

Once the mole removal treatment is decided, the first step is applying an anesthetic cream. The cream is applied to the treatment area and left for about 30 minutes.

After local anesthesia, the CO2 laser is applied to the affected area with moles or warts. The mole or wart is removed by vaporizing it. Redness may appear for 2 to 3 months, but new skin will form as part of the body’s natural healing process.

CO2 Laser:

CO2 Laser (Carbon Dioxide Laser) is used to target the mole. When the laser is applied, the water inside the cells turns into heat energy, instantly evaporating and removing the skin. This heat also helps to seal surrounding blood vessels, resulting in minimal bleeding and safe treatment. The CO2 laser is especially effective for moles on the surface of the skin.

Pain:

The pain level depends on the size, depth, and pigmentation of the mole. If the mole is small and thin, there should be no pain. Larger and darker moles can be a bit painful, but with anesthetic cream, it’s manageable, and you may feel a brief, burning sensation.

The treatment time, including the consultation, is about 1 hour.

Post-Treatment Care:

You can return to your daily routine right after the treatment. You will be prescribed ointment and a regenerating tape, which should be used for about 2 weeks. Regenerating tape can be purchased at pharmacies for around 10,000 KRW for a 2-piece set, but it is also available at dermatology clinics, and some clinics may provide it as a gift.

The wound may leak fluid for the first 2 to 3 days. When the tape fills up, it’s time to change it. The tape should be kept on until the wound is covered with pink skin, which is the new epithelial layer.

Post-Treatment Tips:

Since the skin will be delicate after removal, be sure to apply sunscreen.
